Tolerance for Christians to end if Assad deposed

The fact that Syrian president Bashar al-Assad is an authoritarian dictator is well known and reported widely nearly every day in the mainstream media. What is not being reported is that Assad belongs to a Muslim sect that believes in tolerance toward other religions, such as Christianity.

Assad is an Alawite, a relatively small sect within Islam that comprises roughly 12 percent of the population of Syria. The Alawites are considered to be an offshoot of Shia Islam and are hated by nearly all of the major sects within the Muslim religion.

Stakes could not be higher as recall election nears

As Colorado's historic recall election draws near the stakes could not be higher. The new restrictive gun and ammo laws passed by a Democrat-controlled legislature and signed into law by a Democratic governor has so enraged many in the electorate that they demanded and received the privilege to mount a recall election -- the first in Colorado history -- in order to oust sitting legislators who spearheaded the new laws.

The progressive dilemma: the facts don't add up

Excerpt:

...Within that rallying cry, of course, is the assumption that the country could not exist without the New Deal programs. There is even a strong undercurrent of feeling that suggests that to the progressive, what happened in America prior to the 1930s does not count.

Thus, from 1776 to 1933, FDR's first year in office, nothing good was done. Nothing counts. Nothing matters whatsoever. Everything good and honorable and beneficial in this country came only after 1933.

There is a word for such rubbish, the shortened version being, "Bull."

Today...

Afternoon, my friends. Just a heads up on what will be posted here today.

I have an Examiner article to share, and afterward I will be posting the Gun Rights and Liberty News Roundup.

And once again, thank you all very deeply for reading these pages day after day. Blessings to you all.

It's back...surely you saw it!

The Gun Rights and Liberty News Roundup is back on The Liberty Sphere after a brief hiatus due to my eye inflammation.

WHAT!!!??? You didn't see it? Don't tell me that.

Surely you jest.

Seriously, scroll down yesterday's posts and voila, there it is, with 20 vital links to the best blogs on the Internet, each of which use their influence in their little corner of the world to promote liberty and the right to keep and bear arms.

I should be in the clear to do this regularly once again. So, tomorrow there will be another Roundup for your reading pleasure.

Now, about the eyes. They are not cleared up entirely, but progress is being made. The eye specialist is pleased with the progress and says that within another month or two the inflammation should be entirely gone. We are down to only 20% now as opposed to 80% when this stuff first started. That is a 60% improvement.

Continue to keep me in your prayers about this. My sight is very important to me, as you can imaging since writing is my thing.

Carry on, my friends, and God bless!

Obama uses his Republican lapdogs on Syria

In the run up to Barack Obama's attempt to seal the deal in Congress on attacking Syria, he is getting slathers of help from his Republican lapdogs in both the Senate and the House.

Patriots and other liberty-minded citizens are already well aware of the fact that U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., have carried the water for Obama on his policy, or lack thereof, in the Middle East. Both support military strikes on Syria.

But today several news reports indicate that over in the House, Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, and U.S. Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va., have expressed support for Obama initiated military intervention in Syria, in spite of the fact that there is a plethora of evidence showing that the so-called "rebels" in the country are actually terrorists who belong to al Qaeda and other extremist Islamist groups.

What Obama's hidden left hand does is key

With his right hand, Barack Obama has made sure through his lackeys in the mainstream media that Syria is the topic of national discussion. Photos of Syrians whose lives have been snuffed out with chemical weapons dominate the headlines. Obama and his Secretary of State John Kerry, who was a dove before he joined the administration, now demand that the United States take military action against Syria, even if they have to go it alone. Congress has objected, with many if not most Democrats exhibiting a stark reluctance to launch such military strikes, creating a grand Congressional debate that will claim the nation's attention for another two weeks.

But what is Obama doing with his left hand? The answer is key.

"Tannhauser"

"Tannhauser" is an opera written by Richard Wagner, the German composer who some say was the greatest composer who ever lived. While I disagree with that assessment, the opening instrumental overture to this piece is, indeed, one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written.

In his personal life Wagner was a complicated man, to say the least. He is also known for his antisemitism, although he had many Jewish friends and supporters. But as with all great compositions, one must separate the composers from the works that proceeded from their pens. The greatness in those works often far exceed and overshadow the personal issues of the individuals who wrote them.

I am convinced that great music such as this can help bring some sanity back to a world in chaos. Listen to it. You might be touched.

This is Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra in their amazing rendition of Wagner's Tannhauser. Click here to go directly to YouTube if the embedded video below does not work.
