D.C. Navy yard shooting highlights need to train for self-defense

According to the D.C. police, 12 persons are now confirmed dead in the Navy yard shooting, during which a perpetrator(s) gained entrance into a secured building and began killing personnel.

The shooting highlights the need for individuals to train for self-defense in the face of such real and present dangers. It goes without saying that individual citizens need to be armed and trained to use those firearms. But it goes much further than that.

When confronted by a criminal intent on doing you harm, have you resigned yourself to be killed or to place yourself totally at the mercy of an individual who will likely maim, disable, or kill you? Or have you come to terms in your mind with the fact that you will do anything to survive? Do you know the most effective means of survival?
