Toomey may cave on guns but conservatives plan filibuster

The big news around Washington today focuses on the gun control legislation that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., plans to introduce for a vote on the Senate floor. Sources close to the negotiations say that Reid is encouraged by a possible compromise deal between U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., and U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va.

Gun shows and Internet sales would be targeted in the compromise bill, requiring that background checks be expanded to include private transactions by private citizens who wish to sell their guns on the Internet and at gun shows.
