Gun control vote today

The U.S. Senate will vote this afternoon on the gun control proposal submitted by U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., and U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, R-W.Va. The bill focuses on vastly expanded background checks for gun purchases and would apply to private sales between citizens at gun shows and on the Internet.

A group of several other gun control control measures will also be voted upon this afternoon, none of which are expected to pass.
