One of the more contentious moments during Monday's presidential debate between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney came as the president accused Romney of opposing all government assistance to the big auto companies during the 2008 crisis.
Romney vehemently denied the charge and urged viewers to check the facts for themselves.
A quick fact check on the claim reveals that Romney did, indeed, support a limited offer of government assistance to General Motors (GM) and Chrysler in the form of guarantees, although he opposed giving tax dollars directly to the two automakers.
