Musings After Midnight--The Proverbial Line in the Sand and Contingency Plans, or, Thinking the Unthinkable

Good evening, friends. Time for one of our heart to heart late night chats.

Let's get right down to it, shall we?

I don't mean to sound negative here, but in order for any rational, thinking human being to be prepared for what life brings, we must be realistic about possible eventualities, even those about which we had just as soon not think...such as, what if Obama wins in November?

I want you to consider, honestly and candidly, what such a prospect might hold for you, your family and friends, and for the country.

To put it bluntly without exaggeration or embellishment, such a scenario would be the absolute worst thing imaginable for the future of this nation as a free society. The only thing that could make it worse would be another Democrat controlled Senate, which would continue to enable him to do his dirty work unabated and to continue to dismantle this Constitutional Republic nearly without any serious opposition.

The question that we all face in the event of such an unmitigated political catastrophe is, what will we, the patriotic citizens who actually believe in that antiquated notion that the Constitution is the final rule of law in the land, do about such an unacceptable occurrence? Remember that tyranny by majority vote is still tyranny. The rise of the Nazis to power in Germany in the 1930s is ample evidence. All of it was done "democratically" with a duly elected government "by the people." Yet it was tyranny.

This is precisely why our Founders avoided describing our system of government as a "democracy." In their view, a democracy, or "majority rule," is one of the most dangerous things in the world. Without restrictions on the power of government, and without certain restrictions on what the majority can do with a plurality of the vote, democracy can by a simple majority vote strip citizens of every natural right affirmed by the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.

Thus, our system of government is accurately described as a "Constitutional Republic" that utilizes representative democracy. The electorate chooses representatives who then vote on issues. That Republic also places restrictions on the electorate and the government so that the natural, innate, God-given rights of the MINORITY are protected from the will of the majority.

This concept is central to human freedom. If human beings are to be free, then their freedoms must be protected from a majority vote, as well as from the rule of dictators, tyrants, kings, or collectivists.

But what if the people in a Constitutional Republic vote themselves into tyranny by majority vote, such as electing a person who is known to be an opponent of the very principles our form of government identifies as essential?

Most of the Framers of the U.S. Constitution stated forthrightly what they thought about such a travesty. They said that such a government is invalid and that the people have a right to disobey it and even depose it.

Jefferson, Madison, Franklin, Adams, Henry, and others maintained that when the people allow the Constitution to be violated by elected officials, it is then time for a reset, a vast house-cleaning in which the usurpers of lawful government are ousted and only those who affirm the founding principles are placed in office. The problem is not our system of government but the individuals we have allowed to occupy it, who must be removed by force if necessary in order to insure that the Constitution remains the supreme law of the land.

The 20th century witnessed some highly troubling trends with regard to elected officials who saw themselves as above the law and outside the bounds of the Constitution. Woodrow Wilson and FDR both, by edict, threw millions of American citizens into internment camps based on nothing but their race and nationality. FDR seized the gold owned by American citizens, confiscated it, and sold it back to them for 3 times what it was worth when he stole it. FDR also tried to take over the third branch of government--the Supreme Court--by "packing" it with his supporters by increasing the number of persons who are allowed to sit on the bench. Richard Nixon famously stated after Watergate, "When the president does it, it makes it legal." Bill Clinton lied under oath in a court of law and was allowed to remain in office.

And now we have a president who believes that he has the power to seize private industry, steal the money from investors, give that stolen money to labor unions, and then run the company as a part of the federal government. He tried to turn the tide of public opinion against gun ownership by concocting a scheme to send thousands of guns to Mexican criminals using our own federal agents. The scheme resulted in the deaths of two federal agents and hundreds of Mexican citizens living along the border. He has used to EPA to bully businesses and corporations. He has placed over two dozen unelected "czars" in positions of power where they seek to silence conservatives on the radio, declare war on the coal and oil industries in lieu of giving multibillions of tax dollars to "green industries," which just so happen to donate multimillions of those tax dollars to the Obama campaign just prior to declaring bankruptcy--one of the biggest, unreported scams in U.S. history.

This is not to mention his numerous lies, claiming that his "ObamaCare" program will save Americans $2500 per year, when we are now being told that beginning in January of 2013 the average premium for health insurance will increase by $3000 per year. And that is apart from the largest tax increase in U.S. history which is also set to hit in 2013, as part of ObamaCare taxes and allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire.

Obama raided the Medicare program by $700 billion in order to fund part of ObamaCare. This has already impacted seniors who are being told that their supplemental programs and their prescription riders will cost much more beginning in January.

Add to all of this the fact that the economy is in much worse shape than anyone reports, which economists from across the political spectrum from liberal to conservative say will implode in 2013, plunging us into a depression much deeper than the 1930s. All of this means that what we have brewing is the perfect storm of disintegration for America.

I am told by people in the know that the economic implosion is coming no matter who is president, that the train has already left the station.

But who do you trust to handle it once it happens? The bumbling, lying charlatan who created this mess? Or Mitt Romney? No, Romney was not my first choice, nor my second, third, or fourth choice. But I trust him with the economy infinitely more than an individual who cannot open his mouth without lying non-stop, blaming someone else for his colossal failures, and essentially creating a scenario in the Middle East that has led us to the brink of World War III when it was totally unnecessary.

Yet, in spite of all we know about the shameful assault on our founding principles exhibited by this president, many of our fellow citizens are set to vote for him again. One would think that with the serious and complex difficulties we face, which have done nothing but intensify tenfold since Obama took office, Americans would be up in arms and ready to throw him out on his ear. This election should not even be close. Yet the polls show a close race developing. Yes, Obama has a good chance of being reelected in spite of the fact that he has presided over the longest period of high unemployment in U.S. history and in spite of the skyrocketing costs of prescription and over the counter drugs, gasoline and oil, and food.

I take nothing for granted. I would rather operate with the nauseating prospect that Obama could well be reelected than to delve into deadly overconfidence. He has a good chance of winning again, don't kid yourself.

So what are you gonna do if he does? Are you gonna sit back like the Jews in Nazi Germany who never thought that the unthinkable could happen? Or are you going to take action?

It is time now, my friends, to seriously consider your contingency plans. In fact, you should have already done so by now. If you have not already done so, it may be too late. But, better late than never. You still have a chance to take precautions and to decide how you wish to proceed during the coming darkness, if Obama wins.

Some believe that his reelection will signal the need for mass civil disobedience, that we, the citizens, must express our intent to disobey all unconstitutional laws and edicts handed down by this regime, even if it means jail. Others have suggested massive, national strikes, not of the union variety but of the citizen variety...that is, the citizens, en mass, shut down the country and take to the streets to march to Washington to stage a lengthy sit-in. Yes, such a course of action would come at a price. But some, even business owners, believe that it will be worth the loss to them financially to express their extreme discontent with this regime. And then others believe in an armed insurgency to forcibly remove the usurpers from office, citing Jefferson's notion that "the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and of tyrants."

I cannot tell you what you should do, my friend. This you must decide on your own. But I do know that millions of citizens have drawn a line in the sand, and that line is this election. If Obama and his enablers are reelected, it will be time for some sort of action. I can only hope and pray that it will be non-violent. The last thing any thinking person wants is a civil war. The horrors and uncertainty that such a thing would entail are simply too risky. Maybe I am too old and sick to allow myself the luxury of actually thinking I could engage in a show of lethal force. But I have a hunch that once such a thing happens, no one, not even the young, would come out of it unscathed, not even the "winners."

And yet our Founders told us that such a thing is necessary from time to time, and it is something that must be considered. Are we at that point? That is debatable.

What is NOT debatable is the seriousness with which opponents of Obama intend to do SOMETHING if he somehow gets reelected, even if it means merely "going Galt."

To be frank, if I had to choose a course of action in response to tyranny, it would be "the Galt factor." If every patriot business owner, dock worker, bus driver, sanitation worker, architect, lawyer, preacher, hair dresser, and construction worker would just disappear, gather in a place where like-minded liberty lovers congregated to regroup, reorganize, and then decide how to proceed with taking back the country, just think of the havoc such a thing would create in the society as a whole. We would bring the entire country, government included, to the brink of collapse. Without our tax money, even the military could not function.

This would be what I call "Alinsky in reverse." We use Alinsky tactics not to destroy America but to destroy the corrupted version of it, which will allow us to restore and save the country as described by the Founders in our Constitution.

No matter how much a totalitarian, socialist, Marxist regime would like to dominate a society, without our money to confiscate, they are totally impotent.

When the money dries up, so will their power. Their tanks, ships, planes, and missiles will be rendered useless.

You see, my friends, it really is capital created by capitalists that makes the world go round. Take the capitalists out of the society, and that society dies of starvation. It cannot feed the poor, take care of the elderly, provide healthcare to the homeless, or give a handsome pension to seniors without the money the creators of wealth provide. That is a simple fact. Government does not and never has created wealth. It takes wealth from those who created it, the citizens who are then taxed.

So, we just stop feeding the beast. Withdraw from society. Stop giving the monster his daily infusion of cocaine. If there is no money for government to tax because the citizens have "gone Galt," then all of the precious entitlement programs created by Big Brother will go belly up. And those dependent on government for their checks will be flat out of luck. That is precisely why the despised "rich"--the capitalists, the creators of wealth, the creators of jobs--are so vital to society despite how thoroughly they are maligned by demagogues like Obama.

Once we bring the nation to it's knees by withdrawing our money and presence from it, we come back refreshed, renewed, reinvigorated, and ready to make our demands. The Commies must leave. The Constitution WILL be reaffirmed as the ultimate law of the land. And the socialist vermin who occupy the hallowed halls of Congress, the Courts, and the White House will be forced into the street, for good.

I can just hear some of you whining, "But, but...you are not showing respect for the electorate, the voter who put these people in office."

Oh, but I do respect the voter...provided they are not voting to enslave me to a bunch of Socialists who have no more respect for my freedoms than Joe Stalin or Adolf Hitler. You have the right to vote, my friend, but you do NOT have the right to use the electoral process to strip me of my freedoms. Once you begin to do that, your vote is worthless and invalid, and is to be shredded along with the views of your Marxist heroes you have sent to Washington who have trashed our Framers, desecrated our sacred institutions, and thrown our Constitution into the toilet.

Stop trampling upon our liberties, or the next thing you will find is that we'll be throwing YOU into the toilet.

THIS is the time to restore the rule of law to America and rid the country of those who would make a mockery of every principle that makes this country a unique display of exceptional greatness.

Great Article Anthony. So darn true. I do believe the country is waking up, I only wish it would have been at least 2 yrs ago. I do think God has been planning for us though. Just think where we would be without people like yourself, doing all that great investigative journalism you do. You have informed MANY! And Glenn Beck who has been screaming at the top of his lungs for a better part of 5 years. At least a good majority of us knew. He has worked so hard to warn everyone. It is gonna be a very bumpy, bumpy, scary ride, but, this Nation was blessed by God and we will throw them all out. THEY are the ones who will end up with a hellish way of life, if they are lucky to live through it. So far, every dictatorship I've ever seen, usually goes down in flames, with them begging for their lives. Hitler was a coward. He just did himself in, the SOB. Obama/Holder are nothing. They are cowards, too. God bless you, my friend! Keep investigating! Like you, I can't really be a lot of help with the physical aspects of fighting back, but you and me and millions of others have been spreading the word, since he took his first step into office.... and so it goes. Be well!!

Notice that due to rising unemployment more and more people are not paying taxes.

Notice also that in spite of everything this gov't becomes more and more in debt.

Notice also that as more and more people become dissatisfied with this gov't it does even more things to further dissatisfy the taxpayers.

Simply, the gov't doesn't need your money because the Fed will just print more, so witholding your taxes will do nothing.

They don't need your money but they demand your compliance.

If he wins (or steals the election!), I think that "Awkward Time" Claire Wolfe spoke about will be over.....

Don, your theory is a common one among some and while it may hold some merit up to a point, I must disagree with your ultimate conclusion. Conservative economists say that once the proverbial and deadly "tipping point" is reached economically--the point at which the govt has printed so much money that it becomes worthless, which is precisely what will happen if your theory is carried to its conclusion--then the nation will collapse due to two factors--the rising devalue of money, which usually results in either staggering inflation or deflation, either of which will sink the economy.

In short, there comes a time when printing more money only hastens the collapse.

Yes, there must be some planning for 'the next step' and your suggestion of possible national strike or march on DC sounds like a reasonable and peaceful method of registering widespread discontent. I doubt, however, "registering discontent" will alter the progressive freight train of our present (and potentially reelected) unconstitutional governance.

Going Galt will have more effect for reasons mentioned in previous comments here. Yes, the Fed will print to cover continuing revenue shortfalls from diminished economic activity but that, too, will hasten the unavoidable collapse.

Imagine a train slowly climbing a grade through a heavily populated area and hordes of people jump on for a ride. So many people attach themselves to this free mode of transportation that the train goes ever slower from their added weight then begins to slip, stop and reverse. (This is the screeching sound we are hearing now of synchronized worldwide economic slowdown) Yet no one jumps off the train as it begins to gather speed in reverse, much faster than it did going upgrade. We are no more accustomed to going backwards in our economies than the people on that train. They may expect things to change back to normal but once realization sets in the reverse speed has hurtled beyond the safe jump-off point it is too late; collapse is inevitable.

I don't see a 'muddle-through' solution for the longer term. I can clearly see the inevitability of the tipping point coming very soon that will send us into reverse and collapse. Too many unproductive moochers from ghetto to academia and corporate boardrooms, too little cheap energy anymore, no REAL STATESMANLIKE LEADERSHIP, too much graft and corruption, NO MORALITY, (that anachronistic, unsophisticated has-been) too much entitlement mentality, too little personal responsibility.

Only at the point of collapse will sanity and clarity reemerge, hopefully to prevail. Empty bellies will not tolerate more empty political promises that cannot be eaten. The old adage about '3 meals away from revolution' has a new ring of urgency. The sooner economic collapse occurs, the sooner we can get to setting things back in order rather than raising yet another generation of loafers and moochers.

We may have to fight, no matter our age. To fail to fight these growing limits to freedom and assaults on our liberties is to acquiesce to tyrannical leanings inherent in human governance. The Founding Fathers, God bless them, provided both for the understanding of our God-given unalienable rights through the Declaration of Independence and the tools within the Bill of Rights with which to reassert our right of consent by the “redress of grievances”. Failing adequate redress, Amendment 2 follows quite plainly.

Thank you sir, for your blog efforts, God bless you and God bless the last best hope of free man, these United States of America.

Great article. But I see one flaw in your theory of going Galt. You seem to have forgotten that Hitler confiscated the wealth of the Jews he imprisoned. So, unless you plan to put your wealth in a secure hole in the ground...... we will most likely loose whatever we have in the bank.

And don't forget that hitler rounded up, along with the Jews, all those who didn't "Play Along" with his scheme.
So, unless your planning to hide in the mountains for 10 or 15 years, undetected by military drones, and satellites, while the country implodes, we will most likely be rounded up & thrown into FEMA camps for eventual mass murder & burial. I personally don't put such a thing passed this administration.
