Republicans in two key states that form a significant part of the party base will go to the polls today to make their choice for the candidate they prefer to face Barack Obama in November.
A total of 90 delegates are at stake between the two states, 50 in Alabama and 40 in Mississippi.
RCP's average composite voter preference polls among Republicans show that Newt Gingrich is ahead in both states by a razor thin margin. In Mississippi Gingrich holds a two point lead over Mitt Romney. In Alabama Gingrich barely hangs on to a 0.02 lead over Romney.
