A Small Break

Hi, folks! If you are a regular reader then you know that lately I have not posted the Second Amendment News Roundup. No, I'm not quitting. I have just been exceedingly busier than usual.

With my new CD out, I have been busy promoting that, singing as much as I can, and thus, some things had to be placed on hold until things level out.

So, hang on. The Roundup will return as soon as possible.

In the meantime, visit some of my links in the left column. There is so much there that you will be kept busy reading some great material.

Thanks for your patience.

Lesley Stahl/60 Minutes report last night--a hit piece against Israel?

On CBS News' 60 Minutes last evening, reporter Lesley Stahl presented an on-the-scene overview of the current conflict between Israel and Palestinians concerning the proposal to roll back Israeli land to the pre-1967 level and divide Jerusalem in a manner that would give Muslims control over the most holy sites of the Jewish and Christian faiths. The manner in which Stahl conducted the interviews in the segment, however, raises a serious question concerning the objectivity of CBS News. Was Stahl's report actually a hit-piece against Israel?
Stahl interviewed, among others, Doron Spielman who is spearheading an archaeological dig underneath the homes of Muslims and Jews in one of the regions in question--the eastern sector of Jerusalem where Muslims have been allowed to maintain residence and have lived peaceably with Jews in the city for decades. The area is known as the 'city of David,' where Jewish historians say that King David lived and ruled 3800 years ago. Some believe that David's ancestor Abraham stood in that very area when God promised him the land.
The archaeological digs in the area have resulted in the uncovering of many artifacts of history. Yet it remains highly controversial given that this is the sector of Jerusalem that would go to Muslims should Barack Obama's proposal be accepted. Interestingly, former President Bill Clinton proposed the same thing in the early 1990s.
Stahl's interview was often contentious...

What do Americans really think about the nation's future?

Despite repeated reassurances over the past year that the economy is in recovery and that things are getting better, Americans as a whole seem to think otherwise. Several recent surveys of citizens indicate that Americans are taking an increasingly pessimistic view about the nation's future.
Rasmussen, for example, reports that over 60% of Americans believe that the country is headed in the wrong direction. In addition, according to a survey by AlixPartners, a business advisory firm, 61% of citizens believe that it will take 3 more years for a full recovery to be realized, and 10% believe the economy is so bad that it will never recover. The latter figure has increased since last year.
Earlier this week, this writer reported that due to growing and widespread pessimism among economists and market experts concerning U.S. spending, debt, and recession, the stock market took a tumble. That trend continued throughout the week.

Israel--abandoned and thrown to the wolves

With Barack Obama's last speech concerning the 'Palestinian question' and the nation of Israel, it has become all too clear that this Administration's policy toward the only free country in the Middle East is one of abandonment. Israel is now essentially alone on the world stage. But it is worse than that. Obama has thrown Israel to the wolves, pursuing an agenda in the region that has resulted in the nation being totally surrounded by enemies who do not recognize her right to exist.
The danger resulting from this unfortunate and unconscionable course of events is profound.
In a piercing analysis of the Obama agenda, Middle East expert and Jerusalem Post co-editor Carolina Glick stated that in three broad swipes at Israel within the last month, the President has placed U.S. foreign policy at odds with its long-standing ally in the Mideast.

Is America being set up for a mega-depression?

"What we’ve got right now is almost near panic going on with money managers and people who are responsible for money."
The above quotation is from a report at CNBC in which Peter Yastrow, market strategist for Yastrow Origer, provided his assessment of what is happening right now in the economy.

“Panic.”

Then, there is this dire analysis provided by a noted fund manager for an investment firm in London:
