Even now, after all of the heated exchanges between conservatives and Marxists about ObamaCare, Romney defends the Massachusetts health plan, in spite of the fact that it was used as a model for the ObamaCare plan.
Is this guy really serious about running for President again in 2012? If so, he is off to a terrible start. Statements like these won't win him any friends among Tea Party activists or conservatives in general:

If Republicans choose this RINO as its nominee in 2012, expect the GOP to take another hammering at the polls, giving us another 4 years of 'the Chairman.'

I had initially disliked Romney because of Romneycare and chose not to support him; then decided, Constitutionally, that it was done according to the Constitution, on a state level, and threw my support behind him, yada yada. Now that it has been shown to not be working according to "plan", I was certain he would admit the error and gain support politically. I was SO disappointed when he was on with Chris Wallace, and defended it. I'm now a constituent with no one to support. Sigh.

This what I fear: that the way we select our candidates seems to relect the interests of the country club set more than it does average conservatives. How else to explain how Dole or McCain got the nominations?

Have you not seen the recent PP Polling? Romney has great numbers in the Conservative south (2nd or 3rd), and annihilates Huckabee and Palin in most of the Conservative west. He also has huge leads in states like California, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Florida and Michigan.
If Romney wins New Hampshire, Florida and California (which he has huge leads in now), there will be no shot for Huckabee or Palin to catch him in the 2012 Primary. McCain did this in 2008, you're delusional to think it would be any different in 2012.
At that point Romney will sweep Obama because he captures huge swaths of independent and conservative votes. When push comes to shove Southern Conservatives will rally around Romney when given the choice between him and the Communist In Chief.
So why not simply throw your support to him now and avoid a drawn out, heated primary which could hurt us in beating Obama? Romney is going to win anyway, we might as well back him now.

The deep south may be supporting Huckabee and Palin now, but the only states that matter are New Hampshire, Florida and California for the primary electorate. In all 3 of these key primary states, Romney has HUGE leads. The game will already be decided by California long before most of the other states even get a chance to vote.
It is simply ridiculous to say that Romney doesn't already have the support of conservatives. Dozens of red states out west, support Romney. In the end, to answer your post's title directly: It doesn't matter if he gets support of ALL conservatives because he'll get plenty of support from Independents and even Democrats to give him the win. This is how Reagan won, and it will be how Romney wins too. Mark my words.
Mitt Romney has always supported a "state-by-state" approach to health reform, which is well within the bounds of Constitutional legality. States have far more leeway in creating mandates than the Federal Govt does.
I agree with him, let the states do what they want to do - that is what the founders intended. What works or doesn't work in Mass may not work in other states. This gives people 50 choices where they can live.
Casey, if you think FOR ONE MINUTE that Romney is going to get our support or win in 2012, then you are an idiot as well. Gun Owners hate Romney. Patriots hate Romney. Conservatives hate Romney. Pro-lifers hate Romney for his back-and-forth flip-flopping on the issue.
And as for the state's rights argument, states DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO DO WHATEVER THEY WANT! Those of us who are are CONSISTENT with our opinions do not like big government nanny-statism anywhere, not locally or federally. If the Founders knew that people like you were twisting their words to support government oppression as long as it is at the state level, they would not only roll over in their graves but rise up out of them.

I have been a hunter and gun owner since I was 8 years old. I am pro-life and go to church every Sunday. I support Mitt Romney and ALL of my family, friends and extended family supports him and we are all Conservatives.
I was just at the Sarah Palin Tea Party rally in Searchlight Nevada last Saturday so don't you dare say that I am not a Conservative.
Quit acting as if you speak for all Conservatives because you sure as hell don't. There are millions of US Conservatives that love Mitt Romney and unlike, you sorry losers, know he'll be our next Commander In Chief.
