Democrats Threaten to Pass ObamaCare With Only 51 Votes

Apparently the Democrats are running scared now that it is clear that Scott Brown will more than likely pick up a seat for the Republicans in the Massachusetts Senate race. They are now threatening to pass ObamaCare with only 51 votes rather than the normal 60 votes.

According to Senate rules, appropriations bills can be approved with a simple 51-vote majority. With a change of status of the bill and a few amended components, ObamaCare could be voted on as an appropriations bill.

According to some observers, however, the Dems will have to give up a lot to get this done. Many components of the bill in no way qualify as appropriations measures, and the rules make it clear that those provisions would not be allowed in such a vote.

My hunch? If the Democrats pull off this ploy at a time when not only ObamaCare but Democrats in general are viewed with growing contempt, it will only serve to seal their fate.

Tea Party protesters will turn into Tea mobs with pitchforks and torches.

If it weren't so maddening, it would be amusing; that the rulemakers would even consider obeying the rules.

The degree of corruption is near absolute.

Yes, and their sheer desperation is astounding.
