Anyone who has read the Liberty Sphere for any length of time knows that I have very little respect for Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania--not even when he was a Republican.
The Republican (RINO) turned Democrat appeared on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace to discuss various issues along with Senators Jim DeMint, Richard Shelby, and Robert Menendez.
Introduced as being the only legal expert on the panel that day, Wallace asked Specter, a lawyer, if there would be Constitutional problems with the healthcare bill in Congress.
The Village Idiot stated, 'I do not think there are serious constitutional issues. The mandate provision is very similar to what was done in Massachusetts when they had mandatory reform.'
Once again, Specter exhibits either his vast ignorance or his deliberate, calculated attempt to cloud the issue. States have some powers that the federal government was never granted by the Constitution. As a lawyer, Specter should know this.
But then again, we have a President who claims he was a 'Constitutional lawyer and professor' yet believes the Constitution is but a relic--a historic founding document out of our past that has no binding authority today.
