At the outset let me say I support the open carry of firearms. We have a Constitution with a 2nd Amendment in the Bill of Rights that says the right of the people to keep and 'bear' arms shall not be infringed.
Now, given that we have such an inalienable right which the Constitution protects, then why should any citizen be made to feel that they must hide their firearms with 'concealed carry?'
Having said that, prudence often dictates that firearms be concealed...common sense, you know. But that in no way suggests that in this country with a history that clearly affirms citizen firearms we should somehow be made to feel that we are required to hide something we have a perfect right to 'bear.' That is an individual decision that should be left up to the individual gun owner.
As much as I respect Clayton Cramer, I think he got it wrong on this issue. But Vanderboegh, in his unmistakable style, puts it all into focus much more clearly than I. Read Cramer's article and the Vanderboegh response by clicking here.
