ALERT! Gregg Withdraws as Obama Nominee

Citing irreconcilable differences with Barack Obama over the economic stimulus bill and the President's intention to control the 2010 Census, Commerce Secretary nominee Judd Gregg, R-NH, withdrew his name from consideration.

Matt Drudge breaks the story.

Commentary on this breaking development, which is clearly an embarrassment to the Obama administration, is found here.

Gregg will thus remain in the U.S. Senate, where the Republicans will now maintain enough members to prevent a filibuster-proof Democratic supermajority--provided the 3 turncoats, Specter, Snowe, and Collins can be cajoled into cooperating.
