As the recount in the Minnesota Senate race between U.S. Senator Norm Coleman and Democratic challenger Al Franken nears its completion, it would appear that Coleman has increased his lead.
During local precinct recounts prior to the state-wide recount, somehow Coleman votes disappeared into thin air while votes for Franken appeared out of nowhere like magic.
The state had even determined where the shenanigans were taking place--in three or four of the state's precincts that are most heavily populated by Democrats, of course.
Elections officials are reporting that in the state-wide recount, however, Coleman has maintained and increased his lead back to the levels reported prior to the precinct recounts.
This is certainly good news for Coleman and the GOP. The question remains as to whether or not there will be protracted legal battles initiated by Franken.
