Couric Looked Foolish Before McCain, Palin

When Katie Couric decided to interview John McCain and Sarah Palin together while on a campaign swing through Ohio, no doubt she thought she would put another nail in the coffin of the Palin phenomenon by putting both candidates on the spot concerning recent criticism of the Vice-Presidential candidate.

Instead, Couric came off looking like a fool.

Couric attempted to make Palin look foolish by taking a statement to a voter's question out of context, spinning it to appear as if she were contradicting McCain's official policy toward Pakistan.

McCain jumped in with both barrels blazing, accusing the media of playing the 'gotcha game' when in actuality there is no controversy.

As for Palin, she was poised, focused, determined, relaxed, and confident as she went on the offensive against unfair portrayals by the mainstream teleprompter-readers such as Couric.

McCain was even more direct as he referred to such persons as 'self-appointed experts.'

Couric was visibly uncomfortable.

The interview was a big coup by McCain-Palin and a disaster for Couric-CBS. We can only hope we see more of this in the days ahead as the McCain campaign goes after the blatant unfairness of the mainstream media in holding him and his running mate to a different standard than that to which they hold their darlings Obama and Biden.

Perhaps the best thing that could happen in this campaign is for either McCain or Palin to engage in another George H.W. Bush 'ambush' of Dan Rather back during the 1987 campaign. Bush the elder had 'had it' with Rather's blatant partisan attacks, and he proceeded to blast Rather in a live on-air interview on the CBS Evening News.

One of these worthless scumbags of the media is long overdue another such ambush.
