Facing 'Dire' Illness, Columnist Robert Novak Retires

Stating that his health status is 'dire,' longtime conservative columnist Robert Novak announced his retirement on Monday.

Novak has been diagnosed with a brain tumor and is set to begin chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

At the age of 78, Novak writes the nation's longest-running syndicated newspaper column. He also gained notoriety by appearing on CNN as a conservative commentator.

Novak will be sorely missed on the national stage. Our prayers and thoughts are with him and his family as he begins this crucial series of treatments.
