The Death of Tony Snow, July 12, 2008

We join with many others in mourning the death of Tony Snow, age 53, on Saturday, July 12, 2008.

The former White House Press Secretary and Fox News commentator fell victim to his 3-year battle with colon cancer. As one of the most upbeat and positive human beings one would ever wish to meet, Snow handled his illness with grace and dignity.

Snow served the Bush White House during some of the most tumultuous years of Mr. Bush's Presidency. It seemed that Snow was perfectly cut out for the task, being an unabashed conservative and a Bush loyalist.

Although some faulted him for his fierce defense of White House policy, Snow was faithful to his job description of being an advocate for his employer, the President of the United States, and a friendly, approachable presence before the White House press corps.

As a Christian gentleman, a husband, a father, and a professional, Snow was an outstanding example to young men and women who are contemplating a career in news or politics.

His presence on the national scene will be sorely missed.
