Getting to the Real George W. Bush

We have seen signs of it all along, but until now we never actually believed that President George W. Bush is no friend of gun owners...at least not in blatant terms.

But now we know.

The Administration has thrown its support behind D.C.'s case in D.C. vs. Heller at the Supreme Court. Despite White House rhetoric, this means that in actuality the Bush Administration supports D.C.'s ban on handguns and handgun sales.

Those who have been watching George W. Bush closely for the past seven years are not really surprised at this blatant attack on the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. After all, this is the Administration that suspended Habeas Corpus, spied on average U.S. citizens, and launched an assault on free speech in airports and other public places in the aftermath of 9/11.

Not only that, but the Justice Department under Mr. Bush has taken the position that the Second Amendment is a 'collective right' rather than an individual right.

The collective right balderdash was implemented as official Justice Department policy under former Attorney-General Alberto Gonzalez following a period of time under John Ashcroft's watch that the Department was avidly pro-Second Amendment as an individual right.

Bush has also totally turned his head to many other travesties of justice, such as the illegal and possible criminal prosecution and imprisonment of two innocent Border Patrol agents, Ramos and Compean, in order to appease the Mexican government.

In order to get elected Mr. Bush had to appeal to GOP conservatives, and in fact, he rewarded them with support the first few years of his Presidency. However, observers note there has been a gradual retreat from these positions to those that closely mirror that of the elitist, moderate GOP establishment as embodied in his father, Bush the Elder.

Here are a few examples--he supported banning incandescent light bulbs as passed by Congress, he supports establishing a Palestinian State in spite of the fact that Muslims control 99% of the land in the region already, he has hinted at dividing up the ancient Jewish city of Jerusalem and giving half of it to Muslims, he tried to push through an 'immigration reform' bill that would have granted amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, he has refused to enforce federal law on illegal immigration, he has launched an assault on national sovereignty by pushing a North American Union plan which would unite the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and he has turned a deaf ear to the cries of those who have been attacked and brought to ruin by a rogue agency of the U.S. government--the BATFE (ATF).

In the last two years of his Presidency, Bush has only gotten worse with these liberal-leaning policy initiatives. It is as if he had to become a lame duck in order for us to get to the real George W. Bush.

But even so, those with eyes to see and ears to hear have seen this coming for a long time. The big surprise, however, is just how flippantly the President has totally forgotten those who placed him in office.
