The Fred Thompson Speech to Lincoln Club of Orange County, California

Washington, DC (TLS). Former U.S. Senator Fred Thompson chose the setting of The Lincoln Club of Orange County, California, to give a major speech on a variety of issues concerning public policy, in anticipation of his upcoming announcement as a candidate for the Republican nomination for President.

The former Tennessee Senator was unusually low-keyed in this address in comparison to his normally energetic and engaging persona. However, this address was not about fluff. This was heady stuff.

Thompson's 30-minute address touched on everything from the War in Iraq to globalization to immigration control, and everything in between. One might think that nothing of great substance could be conveyed in such a short speech that covered so many topics. However, the Senator proved that a few carefully-chosen words can convey great substance.

Lincoln himself proved the point in the Gettysburg Address.

Rather than recapitulate the speech here, we feel it is best that you read it for yourself. You will see that it was, indeed, a powerful speech of great national significance.
