Why Libertarians Should Not Support Democrats

Apparently many Libertarians have very short memories. In focusing upon what they dislike about George W. Bush and the Republicans they have forgotten what they DISDAIN about the Democrats. Perhaps I can jog your memory a bit.

The Democrats wrote the book on creating big government. Remember the New Deal? Remember the Great Society? And how did they pay for this growing monolith? Higher and higher taxes. It took Ronald Reagan to roll back the tax and spend bandwagon that the Democrats had advocated for decades.

What about the 2nd Amendment? John F. Kennedy and Hubert Humphrey were the last two national Democrat candidates to proudly claim their membership in the NRA. That era of the party's leadership is long gone. Today you can find them denouncing the NRA in the harshest terms. And let's not forget that Democrats are on record as supporting and implementing the strictest gun control measures in the country.

Hypocrisy is another reason why Democrats should not be supported. Their present righteous indignation over U.S. Representative Foley hides their support for the likes of Garry Studds, the gay Democrat who during the 80s had homosexual liaisons with House pages, and even took one on a European tour. Not only did Studds survive but he ran again and won!

Libertarian support for Democrats is simply asinine...

Hello DMLM and all,

This Foley fiasco has given people the chance to change the make-up of this government, which will ultimately lead to the end of the Bush-Cheney reign. It may not be pretty, but it is a gift, nonetheless. Don't waste this advantage, and use it wisely to end the more pressing problems that face us all.

Want to better understand some of the desperation among top Christian politicos? Want to know what else they are pretending not to know about? Follow the links and read about who I am and what I have to say. Notice that my last name is Page? Think this "page" scandal is a mere coincidence? The timing and ramifications are much worse than most realize yet.

If Christian political leaders are going to go around attacking others for not living up to their professed values, it's a damn good idea to be truthful and actually walk the walk. Logs and motes in the eye, camels through the eye of a needle, glass houses, kettles and pots, and what goes around comes around, et al. Karma's a bitch when She finally decides enough is enough! This wouldn't have been so bad on Republicans if they hadn't been such arrogant hypocrites in order to corner the so-called values voters! Now the "Two Candlesticks" and "Two Witnesses" (Truth and Justice) are "breathing fire" and "raining hailstones!"

Christian Political Leadership, Hypocrisy, Duplicity, and Purposeful Evil

The current scandal involving Congressman Foley is merely the latest in an amazingly long list of blatant deception and duplicity by Republicans and the Christian Right in recent years. While bedeviling us all with their holier-than-thou pretenses, they consistently support and/or perform blatant greed and abominable evil. Never forget the extent of their arrogance over the last two decades and especially the last 6 years. It is beyond amazing that Christians continue to blindly support such obviously blatant scoundrels, even as they are repeatedly exposed going against the most basic of human values. The level of hypocrisy and duplicity boggles the mind. There is no longer any doubt, whatsoever, that Christianity is little more than a purposeful deception used by political and religious leaders to dupe, manipulate, and coerce entire populations into giving them wealth and power, which they always use for greed, injustice, and abominable evils.

The actions of Foley and those who covered up for him directly parallel the actions of scores of priests that have raped innocent children, preyed upon others for centuries, and had their actions hidden and abetted by the Vatican. Now, in eerie repetition of Vatican history, we have a power hungry Christian Emperor (GW) working closely with the Vatican and Judeo-Christian aristocrats to lead crusades in the so-called Holy Land. Furthermore, to leave little doubt about the reality of this assessment, the USA, as the new Holy Roman Empire, is about to legalize the torture it has perpetrated in recent years while steadily reversing many of the democratic and civil freedoms that people gained when the Vatican and royalty lost control of their European empire at the turn of the nineteenth century. Now we see them following the same old path of evil as they strive to cement the status of the USA as the latest proxy Vatican empire. Make no mistake about it, the new dark ages are looming on the horizon unless we do something proactive to prevent it.

Remember that those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it!

So you think making it possible for Democrats to come back into power is the answer? Sorry, but that is sheer nonsense. While much of what you say has some merit, your cure, apparently, is to throw the bums out and put other bums in. What kind of rationality is that?

I will IN NO WAY support Democrats just to punish Republicans. Not only do the Democrats have plenty of skeletons in their closet, but they ARE the party of big government, high taxes, big brother education, strict gun control laws that render the 2nd amendment worthless, and the like. Thanks, but no thanks!

What is no doubt is that evil people will adorn themselves in any "righteous" clothing to serve as a mask for their wickedness. How many times hav you heard people talk about "how nice" the neighborhood pedophile was.

It is also the tactic used by many to disparage a whole people because of the actions of those who put on these false faces as a cover for hate.

After all, isn't the Libertarian Party the "Pot Party?" Aren't Libertarians really trying to turn our children into dope heads? You know as well as I that this disparragement of all Libertarians is untrue just as the disparagment of all Christians as greedy, power-hungry dupes is untrue.

Signed,

A Christian Libertarian.

My voting strategy this year is to reject all incumbents and, wherever possible, to vote for third-party or independent candidates instead of the opposite side of the "power party" in each particular case. Like Mr. Lloyd-Morgan, I cannot, in good conscience, endorse the Democrats just to evict the GOP. But on the other hand, I can't endorse the Republicans either, just because, in a vanishingly small number of situations, they might be slightly better than "the other guys."

I think it is time that voters enforce some term limits of their own on election day. We need a system reset, and the politicos in DC and the State capitals need to get one message above all: YOU CAN BE REPLACED, SIGNED, YOUR BOSSES, WE THE PEOPLE.

Fortunately, the Libertarian Party is running enough candidates in my State and area to allow me to cast votes FOR good candidates instead of AGAINST candidates I don't like. Sadly, they are not running candidates for US House or State assembly in my district. If I lived in Alabama, I would vote for Loretta Nall. I wish we had more candidates of her sincerity and caliber running across the country, and especially in my state.
