ALERT! Russia Renews Cold War Rhetoric

During the 2008 Presidential campaign, both Barack Obama and John McCain stated that there would be 'no new Cold War with Russia.'

But it appears as if we may not have a choice.

Russia has increasingly undertaken actions that are definitely reminiscent of the Cold War, and its new President, Dmitry Medvedev, has seemed to take an even more hardline approach than his predecessor Vladamir Putin.

The country has threatened nuclear attacks if the U.S. places a defensive missile shield in Poland and has defended its blatant act of aggression in its invasion of Georgia.

And, even today, Russian warships are in the Caribbean for joint maneuvers with the navy of Venezuelan Communist dictator Hugo Chavez.

CBS News has a full report on Russia's move toward renewing the Cold War, written by its Moscow corespondent. (H/t to Matt Drudge).

Well, we could claim we believed them when they threatened nuclear war, and unleash our nuclear arsenal on every launch site in Russia, and every warship she has on and under the water. You know, just to get their attention and show them our intenions are serious.

Long planned and published. It's called "convergence" — on their terms.
