They're Coming After Your Money

The record is now very clear. The Democrats in Congress intend to make good on their promise to raise your taxes...by the billions.

The Party of the pick-pockets just made it official that they're coming after your money. No more hiding it or sidestepping the issue.

Not only did Congress vote today to let the Bush tax cuts expire in 2009 but to add new taxes as well. This will amount to the single largest tax increase in history.

The vast majority of Democrats in the Senate and House voted in favor of the increases.

But it doesn't stop there.

Demos also want to add about 40-50 cents per gallon in new taxes on gasoline...at a time when Americans can ill afford such a massive hike in prices at the pump.

How will raising taxes at the pump help Americans at such a critical time when gasoline prices are skyrocketing?

Leave it to the Party of theft, confiscation, and entitlement to rob us blind.

Oh, and by the way, for the record, both Obama and Clinton support these massive tax increases, while John McCain ranks 6th in the Senate on consistently voting to keep taxes down.

John Lott has found even more blatant bias in the mainstream media in reporting the scandal of a major DEMOCRAT, Eliot Spitzer. One news network even used the occasion to rehash GOP scandals, not Democrat scandals:

POP Goes the Weasel

Like a child who has his first experience being surprised by the jack-in-the-box or the 'pop goes the weasel' game, voters never cease to be shocked and dismayed by the latest scandal in politics.

Monday gave voters yet another one of these shocks as Governor Eliot Spitzer (D-New York) was caught in a major prostitution ring, although Spitzer has made a career out of prosecuting call girls and their pimps to the fullest extent of the law.

But this should be nothing new to the electorate, and, contrary to the obvious bias of the mainstream media, it should be nothing new to Democrats as well.

Scandal knows no political party or ideological boundary.

Yet in all likelihood this is not going to be the last scandal of the 2008 Presidential Election.

Hillary and Bill have so many skeletons in the closet that at any moment one of them could draw new life and emerge from the closet to wreak havoc on her campaign.

And don't believe for a moment that the icon of 'change,' the Messiah himself, Barack Obama, is immune. Something simply isn't right about the candidate, his wife, and his campaign. We know of Michelle Obama's overt disdain for America. I highly suspect that Barack feels the same way, only he is able to hide his feelings very well.

This 'all-around nice guy' who causes infidels to get 'Obama religion' and become 'slain in the spirit' like Pentecostals without the Christianity, is an enigma of sorts. But a mere cursory reading of his record reveals at least part of the real truth.

In the Illinois legislature he voted against allowing medical care to be given to newborn babies who survive botched abortion procedures. He voted for every single gun control bill that was introduced, including making the statement that all handguns should be banned.

And then there is the tax problem. We need look no further backward that his present campaign to see the nightmare he would unleash on the American public.

It will take 300 BILLION DOLLARS in new taxes to pay for Obama's proposals.

This is 36% higher than what it would take to pay for that tax-and-spend liberal Hillary Clinton's proposals.

300 BILLION DOLLARS in new taxes. Boy, what a 'nice guy.'

As former Senate Majority Leader from the 60s, Everette Dirkson, R-ILL, used to say sarcastically about Democrats' spending, 'A billion here, a billion there, and pretty soon you're talking about real money.'

There is no taxpayers' friend in this race on the Democratic side, my friends.

John McCain, on the other hand, ranks 6th in the Senate on tax issues, and this ranking is provided by the National Taxpayers' Union.

Yes, John McCain.

POP goes the weasel! It seems surprises in this campaign come from both sides.

John Lott has discovered the expected media bias in the coverage of Governor Spitzer's scandal--two of the three major broadcast networks failed to identify Spitzer as a Democrat. You know as well as I do that had he been a Republican, they would have been all over it:

Second Amendment News Roundup for 3/10/08

Focusing on guns and politics, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

It is totally outside the realm of sanity that U.S. politicians would base their proposals for universal healthcare on the experience of Great Britain, Canada, or Cuba, among others. Nicki has yet another very good reason to totally reject outright these proposals:

A ruling by a California Court of Appeals has millions of parents in a state of frenzy. McCain and the New York Times

Once upon a time in the realm of politics and media coverage John McCain held favorite son status among the reporters, editorial writers, and editors of the mainstream press.

But the times they are a-changin'.

While McCain still holds a certain sway with a large number of reporters who cover politics, there is yet no doubt that there is a new kid in town, and his name is Obama.

The new kid on the block has quickly become the darling of the mainstream media as the candidate has held a mystical, magical, and even ethereal hold on reporters who gush with oooos and ahhhs whenever he as much as sneezes.

Obama has not been pressed by the Press to answer questions of substance. And when a few reporters in particular began to probe last week in response to new questions concerning the candidate's readiness for the job, Obama complained.

Even so, reporters have access to John McCain to a degree not seen with any other candidate, and this, naturally, evokes at least some allegiance to McCain, Obama notwithstanding.

This close access led to a confrontation last week aboard the 'Straight Talk Express,' McCain's campaign bus caravan.

A New York Times reporter inquired about McCain's suggestion in 2004 that he might consider becoming John Kerry's running mate. The famous McCain anger quickly rose to the surface as he essentially lambasted the reporter for bringing up the subject.

But she persisted.

So did McCain.

McCain's position was that the question merely dredged up old news that has been discussed over and over, and thus had no relevance now.

But the Times' position is that McCain must be 'swift-boated.' As we have stated so often before, the New York Times has long since lost any semblance to an objective source of news. It is now so thoroughly a printed tool of the Leftwing that it may as well say so and get it out of the way rather than pretend that it is still a force in hard news coverage.

That being said, it is intriguing as to how the Times has gone from being an admirer of McCain to an outright mouthpiece for the Obama campaign. Prior to Obama's rise to stardom, the Times clearly favored Hillary.

In short, the tabloid is now so thoroughly ensconced in the bowels of the Left that even a maverick Republican like John McCain isn't good enough.

McCain's brush with the possibility of running with John Kerry in 2004 was likely nothing more than one friend expressing friendship with another friend. McCain has been around long enough to have forged deep friendships on both sides of the aisle.

After the story had received top billing for a few days in 2004, McCain finally emerged with the declarative statement that he is a Republican and had no intention of shifting Parties or running with Kerry.

Thus, the entire episode is much ado about nothing. McCain has enough baggage to raise the interest of inquisitive reporters than to have to resort to questions and stories such as this.

But then, the 'problems' with some of McCain's views are not problems to the mainstream media.

We are stuck, therefore, with questions about statements from one friend to another in 2004...which ironically is symptomatic of the mainstream media this year with regard to Obama. Where are the questions of real substance?
