Racial Overtones Plague Allenna Ward Case

Charlotte, NC (TLS). Like a nightmare that keeps recurring over and over, the Allenna Williams Ward case in Clinton, South Carolina is becoming even more eerily reminiscent of the infamous Duke lacrosse rape scandal--in more ways than one.

The Liberty Sphere has already reported that Ward may be the victim of a rogue Prosecutor, in the tradition of Mike Nifong, who needs to score a victory in a teacher sex scandal. Further investigations into this case lead us to believe that racial overtones may well figure into this scenario, just as they did with the three Caucasian Duke lacrosse players falsely accused of rape by a Black female prostitute.

Our investigation has uncovered deep problems within the Bell Street Middle School in Clinton with regard to racial issues. Although this fact has been carefully hidden from the public, the teenagers involved in this case are Black. From what we have been able to piece together, these Black teenage males were involved in inappropriate taunts aimed at the young Mrs. Ward, a 23-year old Caucasian in only her 2nd year of teaching.

One incident involving the teenagers sent Ward to the administrative office of the school to complain.

Rumor has it that the incident involved a cell phone picture that one of the Black teenagers took of Ward while she had her back turned. It is against school policy for students to have cell phones turned on in class. Most schools have policies that mandate teacher confiscation of cell phones, iPods, and the like. The parents are then called to come to the school to retrieve the items.

Therefore, if such a cell phone picture exits, then it was taken against school policy and against Mrs. Ward's knowledge.

Another rumor has been swirling concerning the nature of the infamous 'note' that made its way into the hands of school administrators. Apparently one of the teenage boys had been called down by Mrs. Ward for talking in class. She instructed him to write questions on paper if he wanted to ask something. The Black teenager proceeded to write an obscene message to Ward, which she tossed into the garbage.

Somehow the discarded obscene message mysteriously found its way to the administrators of the Bell Street Middle School.

These two rumors have not been confirmed by The Liberty Sphere, but they do offer at least some small glimpse into the scenario that was being played out at the Bell Street Middle School.

As in the Duke case in Durham, North Carolina, not only do we have here a situation where a Caucasian is being accused by Black teenage boys, but the community of which Bell Street Middle School is a part is a central factor in this entire troubling mess. Ward was almost immediately found guilty in the court of public opinion even before any of the facts of this case were known. A prosecutor pandered to the Black community, as we found in Durham.

At this stage, with each passing day this case is appearing to be nothing but a set-up job perpetrated by Black teenage boys gone bad in order to cover up their despicable behavior in school toward their young teacher.

State Circuit Solicitor Jerry Peace had better have some bombshell irrefutable evidence against Mrs. Ward, or else he is going to have a uprising on his hands consisting of peasants with pitchforks demanding that he come clean about a white teacher being set up by some bad Black teenagers.

I would be careful not to overplay the racial angle in this case.

I believe that had everyone been the same race, we would still have the same problem. I think the prosecutor will believe any charge against any teacher in that district regardless of who makes it.

That being said, the racial angle makes a huge difference in the community's perception of the case. A story of black teenagers, a young white woman, and illicit sex brings up memories of everything from the Duke rape case to Emmett Till, to countless other injustices in the racial history of this country.

Whatever the outcome of this case, this is going to reopen some nasty wounds.

My point was exactly as you state, the racial angle makes a huge difference in the community perception of this case. And, I'm afraid the case itself has already opened some nasty wounds, even before the trial begins.

As for the latest case of "bad teachers" who allegedly held the keg party on Lake Greenwood, I have some more information about that.

It looks like the party in question was thier son's graduation party. Alcohol was served, but it was not sold. The couple had the party, then let the party goers stay the night so they wouldn't be out on the roads.

Perhaps this is a case of irresponsible parents, but it should be noted that this would not have been a crime when the parents themselves were 18 because the legal drinking age was 18 at the time.

Only in America, and certain Islamic countries, is it a crime for adults to give alcohol to 18 year old ADULTS, but that's a different issue.

Either way, I don't think the state police (SLED) needed to get involved here. This also is an indication that solicitor Jerry Peace is indeed targeting teachers.

I am posting the original story on tomorrow's Liberty Sphere as it was reported in the Press. But I agree, this one seems way overblown...due to an aggressive prosecutor.

Are you an idiot? This woman had sexual relations with underage teenage boys? It's irrelevant whether she's "white" and they are not; the crime is called statutory rape, and the prosecutor has no choice but to charge her with the crime. If this was a "white" girl who was abused by a male teacher of any ethnic background, people would be up in arms. Get the appropriate perspective, this is a crime against children.

The poison you spread is toxic to rational minds. I'm getting my Ph.D.; why don't you read some social theory.

Welshman said...

Where are you getting a PhD? Apparently the screening committee has very weak standards.

First, you no more know for sure that Ward had sex with those teenagers than I do. Thus, to say, 'This woman had sexual relations with underage teenage boys' is merely an assumption and not an established fact.

Thus, you are one of the very ones guilty of trying this woman in the court of public opinion rather than in a court of law.

What are you afraid of? The truth?

I never said this was all about race...I said the racial issue is a factor, just as it was in Durham with the rape hoax.

If Ward is guilty, let the evidence show it in a court of law. On the other hand, there must be some big doubts that the evidence is there, or else you would not be falling all over yourself to convict her on hearsay accusations long before there is any trial.

So far, the story of the teeangers is sorely lacking in credibility.

Give me something besides vitriol, and I may change my mind.

These black kids are now fining ways to "get back" at white people who have power over them...in this case, a white teacher. How do you bring them down? Accuse them of sex crimes, ruin their lives, and feel empowered. Just like the Duke case. This isn't new, and there will be more of it. Reverse racism.

Although I'm reluctant to place too much trust into the "rumors" you have mentioned, I do think it's a huge injustice for everyone to automatically assume she is guilty of what she is accused of.

Unfortunately, in these current times whenever a young student makes such a claim against a teacher the school must assume the student is telling the truth. Also, most African Americans will continue to believe the students even if she is found innocent in court. The Duke Non-Rape case is proof of this.

One thing that strikes me though is that in the letter the school sent to the high school students parents they wrote that they found letters/notes written by Ms. Ward that was inappropriate, not letters to her. What was written in those letters/notes and did they do handwriting analysis on it or just take them on face value?

Welshman said...

There have been conflicting reports concerning the notes. The first story was that obscene notes surfaced written by Ward to one of the teenagers. Apparently this was nothing more than rumor in the initial whirlwind of controversy that ensued after the arrest was made.

Some time later, it was reported that the student in quesition had been a discipline problem and had been instructed by Ward not to speak at all but to write notes to her if he had a question. The note that the student wrote reportedly contained an obscene message directed at Ward.

This is where the story gets fuzzy. Initial reports indicated that as soon as Ward saw the note, she threw it in the garbage...and this note somehow mysteriously found its way to the main office of the Bell Street Middle School.

However, a later report indicates that Ward may have responded to the note using very strong terms. The person who allegedly saw the note refers to its 'severity.'

Nowhere has anyone suggested that Ward stated anything obscene in that note. It is only described as 'severe,' which suggests that she issued the student a very strongly-worded reprimand.

Thus, apparently there IS, indeed, a note written by Ward to one of the students. This was not reported earlier as this story unfolded.

Sadly, for the five teenage boys who accused Ward of sexual misconduct, their story was true after all. Ward herself admitted to it in a court of law today in a plea bargain agreement with Circuit Solicitor Jerry Peace.

I admit I was wrong in my assumptions, which were based on typical, accepted profiles of sexual predators. Ward did not fit those profiles. But here she was in court today admitting to sexual misconduct with the five teenagers.

The teenagers have been tainted for life. The pain brought to them and their families must not go unpunished.

Why do some cling to this adversarial attitude of whites vs blacks..? I'm African American and our society, country isn't served with these outdated animosities that some continue to conjure up and insist on dragging the rest of us through. Apparently, this young woman needs help, and clearly here is just another failure that is trajic for all concerned. We need safe schools for every child, and we need to be mature in setting good examples so we can raise responsible capable adults. What's the bottom line? We're all in this together, and we either rise or fall together.

This is the nasty fabric that weaves the disgusting hate that leaves such issues in the hands of political mischeviousness. To think that black children are somehow masterminding a covert race war is the most idiotic idea born unto mankind, furthermore educate yourself before you give the public a demonstration of your cognitive abilities.

I can't believe the stupidity of some people. There is not an in between concerning right & wrong. The sad part about this is most people that may read what i'm saying will not give it second thought. Both the teacher & the boys are wrong regardless of being black, white blue green orange or any other color. Right & wrong should never be a card played on race. When you read the scriptures, sit in your churches, teach your children, associate with your relatives.. are you promoting peace concerning other races? (God says he hates contentious people) Are you the biggest hypocrite? People say "oh but didn't God favor the Israelites over all other people", well let me tell you about that...God chooses people of all races, all nations, all languages and make them Israelites IN HEART. Read the scriptures, many of the Egyptian left Egypt with Israel & became Israel. So if you think for one second your can be favored by God showing such contentions & faulty reasoning, you need to greatly evaluate yourselves. Stop judging falsely & judge with truth!!! Stop calling yourselves people favored by God when you dont even make fair distinctions. Judge fairly & righteously, circumsise your heart & spirit, Show love, set the righteous example for people around you & join the true Israel, not one in the flesh, but the Israel that is Israel in Spirit.

these five guys don't care. i bet you they are proud to have sex with the teacher. And now she is sent away to jail. they will prance around school in their baggy clothes, bling, etc. giving each other high fives about how cool they are.

Let's not make assumptions here. In fact, I am beginning to get a bit uncomfortable with this whole racial element to the discussion.

Plus, this post is OLD...and was posted very shortly after the incidents took place. There was much we still did not know.

I have many more recent posts on the Ward case, including two posted today. How about we move our comments away from this older post and put them in some of the more recent posts. OK?

The inherently racist B.S. statements about race completely delegitimizes most of these arguments, but I believe there is a much bigger issues at play. This is not a case of "bad-black-accusing-victim-white" reverse racism. What is it however is a blurring of definitions between childhood and adulthood. As far as this country is concerned, adulthood is defined by the absolute of being 18+ years of age. From my perspective as a Muslim, adulthood begins from puberty - both physical as well as mental development. What we have are several teenage boys who most likely in the prime of their hormonal urges gave into their young teacher, who likewise saw them as viable sexual partners, albeit too young for a legitimate relationship. Assuming her confession to be fact (again ASSUMING it to be the case) I don't believe this should be considered rape or sexual assault. I think anyone sensible, especially any males who have recently finished middle, high school and college understand the desires of young men going through this age. So what took place was wrong and immoral on BOTH ends. Granted as a teacher, Ms. Ward should be holding the moral high ground, but she too gave in to very human urges, and the rest is history. This media portrayal of "teacher-exploitation" and "child-rape" and what not goes way too far in this day and age.
